About Mike Veitch
I am a professional underwater photographer and videographer who is currently based in Bali, Indonesia where I am the co-founder of the Underwater Tribe, a small company that organizes and leads custom boutique dive adventure trips throughout Bali and Indonesia. I am well known world wide as an award winning underwater photographer whose recent wins include the BBC Wildlife Photographer of the Year award for “World in Our Hands” in 2013. I am one of the worlds most prolific underwater photography instructors and I have taught hundreds of people how to successfully take fantastic underwater photographs. Through the Underwater Tribe, I lead several trips around the Indo-Pacific region each year where I teach photo workshops or just informally discuss photographic techniques with people on the trip. I started my diving life in the Republic of Palau from 99-2002 then moved on to Fiji, Tahiti (Tuamotu), Yap, and Indonesia with many travels in between. I contribute photos and articles to all of the major diving magazines throughout the world but I am more known for my successful underwater photography instruction. As part of the Underwater Tribe, I have started a School of Underwater Photography where we teach people the art of photography in the worlds best classroom, Bali!
This blog is a great place to keep appraised of the latest trips and workshops that we host, it’s also a great place to keep abreast of some of the behind the scene stories that happen in the diving industry.
I use Nikon cameras and Nauticam housings for my underwater photography needs as well as Sea and Sea strobes and Fisheye FIX lights.
